Meeting Randy Harrison - Reports & Experiences

I wasen't exactly sure where to post this, and this i didn't want make a thread with just my report so everyone feel free to post your reports and stories about meeting the gorgeous randy



So here goes my report on attending the QaF/L Word convention that took place in Paris from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November 2008. It'll include the whole weekend, as well as the scans of the signature and photograph I was lucky to get from/with him. enjoy



Well, all my gratitude and thanks go out to dirtyprettyhome, her sister and her mother for letting me stay at their apartment, which was like only 15 min. away from the eiffel tower. not like i had the time to go there...anyway. traveling by train is very comfortable, and i had my iPod and a yaoi novel with me, so i DEFINITELY didn't get bored in the ride there ^^

Anyway, about 2 hours after my arrival, which i spent buying my 3 day metro/rer/but ticket and 'window shopping' in la bon marche, i met up with dirtyprettyhome (omg, she's so tall!) and we both went to her mom's place. there i was finally able to store my suitecase, and after her twin sister arrived from bordeaux, we all went out to eat a burger at the 'indiana'. oh, and i forgot to mention....paris is exactly how i remember it, and after this experience it has taken an even more speacial part in my heart. on day 2 (1st of november) i got out of the metro at the 'cite' and visited the notre dame, then walked along the seine until i reached the louvre. seriously, no matter where you walk around the paris, there's always something to see. SO awesome! alright, anyway. i visited the louvre for most of the day....like for 5 hours, and looked at all the things i hadn't seen the last time i was in paris 6/7 years ago. took tons of pics of things that i really liked, for example this painting by francesco marmitta :



after spending all that time walking along the halls of the louvre and staring my pupils out of my head look at all that stuff, i just had to go 'home'. my feet were dead, and luckily dirtyprettyhome was kind and trusting enough to give me her key for the apartment (thanks SO much hon *squeezes*). after she and her sister came back from their day at the convention, telling me what to expect and sharing randyness with me, we went to eat a crepe, and a savory one for that matter. it was delicious, but as it had been all weekend long i could only finish half of it *sniff sniff*

and then it was the day of days. and i nearly arrived there too late. okay, so there were talks by the people organizing the convention as part of the morning program, and it was all in french, but i still wanted to get the whole experience! i arrived at like 10:20, 10 min. before the start of the program for that day.

i enjoyed the morning part, even though i didn't understand anything, lolz! i was the only non french speaking person there that morning, so the people giving the talks told me they'd tell me about it later, but well, i guess they had enough to still organize, because i didn't see them anymore until the Q&A session. so, ther was a break between 1 pm and 2 pm, and we all had to go out (except the VIPs i think), and cuz i had no idea where to spend that hour, i walked along a road and back to bridge the time, but i still came back half-an-hour before the program would start again. i wasen't the only one though, and so like half of the people waited on the stairs for the last half hour.

and then the time came! OMFG! RANDYPANTS was so THE PRETTY! he was wearing the perfect outfit, at least in my eyes. this white/gray striped t-shirt with a black/white striped cardigan over it, and this DELICIOUS pair of dark grey jeans, like so. OMFG HAWT! i heard that the pictures taken at the photoshoot are from the waist up portraits...god, i SO hope they're not cuz randy looked SO delicious, it would be crime not to show his whole body! anyway, i took some images and clips with my photocamera, but not THAT many cuz i just wanted to enjoy being in the same room with him, hearing his voice and seeing his mannerisms. god, i fell in love all over again! here are some of the pictures i took, and a video of some of the clips i took during the question and answer:



so, right after the Q&A session was the photoshoot for those who wanted to take a picture with randy. i think i had to only wait 15 min. or so once they started taking the pictures. god, my heart was beating a mile a minute, and steadily increased it's hammering the closer i got. and then it was my turn. i walked up to him and he said bon jour to me and i said hi back to him and he smiled! hihi, i guess he didn't expect someone from the fans to talk in english to him. anyway, i asked him if i could hug him in the picture, cuz you know, it's retarded to have a picture withsome one 'dear' to you where both of you look like strangers to eachother. okay, we are strangers to eachother, but you know what i mean. anyway, he said yes *SQUEE*, and cuz the photographer didn't expect me to ask him this, she took the picture too early, so we had to do it again *DOULBE SQUEE*. sad thing is that it all happened so fast that i couldn't really take it in....OMFG, i actually stood beside him and HUGGED him! and i couldn't really smell him either (don't worry, i don't have a fetish or anything, i was just wondering how he smelled...). anyway, i told him to keep his head up despite the length of the queue. and that made him smile AGAIN *omg faints*!

well, yes, and then it took another hour or so until it was my turn to get a signature. i'd decided to let him sign my german QaF fanbook, but now i wish i hadn't. i wish i would have had that promo image of return shift escape or some other of his theater shots. i asked him if he knew anything about gale's recovery, if he'd heard anything new in the last few days, but i guess he wasen't too happy with me asking since he only said: "he's gonna be fine..." with this kind of eyeroll kinda voice. oops! and it was his birthday too, man, i didn't want to get on his nerves on his birthday. crap! i guess i didn't leave that good of an impression. anyway, lastly i told him to have a happy birthday and to have a save trip home. i didn't have a present for him, cuz organizing the trip to paris the last few days before my departure didn't leave me with enough time to make the music mix i had planned. darn it! does anyone know if randy has a fan mail address, and if he tends to actually read it?

okay, anyway. after that there was some more waiting til the signing was finished (i read in my QaF fanbook) and then it was time to perform the dance the convention organziers had practiced with us. it was fun to dance, even though it was SO emberrassing! but i didn't participate in the performance for randy, instead i wanted to film his reaction....it's at the end of the video i uploaded on youtube. and that was it really. after that he left with all his presents, and i guess went to celebrate the rest of his birthday with simon. at least i hope simon was there with him, mean poor guy. he's not exactly a fan of these types of events, and he had to attend one on his birthday of all days.

okay....hm, my trip back home was just as enjoyable as the trip there...or, well, may be not cuz i started crying on my seat in the middle of the compartment. i dunno, i guess i was a little disappointed that randy didn't smile more, and that i was SO angry with myself asking the question about gale and getting randy annoyed with it. dunno, i guess it was also feeling the distance becoming greater between randy and myself. sounds like i was leaving my love in paris. rediculus, i know, but in a way may be not...

anyway, i hope this post hasen't become too long to post now....i'll scan randy's signature and picture with me as soon as i'm able ^^

EDIT: i totally forgot to report on the answers randy gave at the Q&A session. well, at least on the ones i remember....here's what i just commented on stacey_in_ma's comment when she asked me exactly that: god, what i totally forgot....the Q&A session. well, there were more questions asked of course....but they didn't really stick with me. wait......okay, all three guests were asked if they liked sarah palin. randy: "I hate her.".....Dou you know gales phone number: "No" (i mean come on, what kinda question was THAT!?)....hobbies: "Traveling, music, concerts, theater.".....What he did with his first QaF paycheck: "Didn't use it for like a year, and then spent it on REALLY good food by visiting several restaurants.".....If he everthought of standing and performing on stage in europe: "It's always been a dream on mine to play theater in european countries, like england and france."....phew...more i can't remember right now ^^

That is SO adorable!

This is, in my opinion, THE best topic on the forum! (p.s. - you look really pretty in the picture)

But anyway, WHAT a story! I so wish I had been there! I didn't even know they made these kinds of conventions.

AND you got to HUG HIM! That is so AWESOME! And don't worry, I would so try and smell him too.

BTW, who's Simon? His boyfriend? Do any of you have a picture of him?

Lastly, THANK YOU so much for this report, it made my day!

yep, simon is/was his boyfriend. i hope they're still together, haven't heard of them lately.

And last time I heard about Simon being seen with Randy was back in October when Randy\'s short film \"...thinking\" had been screened in NY!

Not trying to be a Buzzkill re Randy/Simon *Gah sorry but he's Ugly* but that's moi...

I know from another LJ Mate who knows someone who knows Simon that Randy and he have split up.

So Perhaps it was Simon just being supportive of his Ex and showing up at the TAB Screening.

Yeah, as much as I don't like Simon, he seems smart and is not THAT fugly.
